The Royal Castle in Warsaw, Baroque-Classical in style, has been one of the most important residences of the State authorities in Poland since its establishment. Originally, it was the seat of the Dukes of Mazovia. Later, it became the royal residence, the seat of the Sejm (Polish Parliament), the Head of State and the President. Currently, it is a museum and a venue for official visits and state meetings. Thanks to its full reconstruction in 1971-1984, the castle became a monument and a symbol of the rebuilding of the city after its almost complete destruction in 1944.
